Could this new Kia go one better than the Hyundai Ioniq 5? These are the first pictures of Kia’s new fully-electric EV6. The semi-SUV styled family hatchback features the company’s new corporate look and will be the first car to wear its new corporate badge too.

Kia has taken the odd decision to release pictures but very few other details. However, it is known that the EV6 will share most of its mechanical parts and battery tech with the new Ioniq 5 from sister company Hyundai.

That should mean a range of around 317 miles for the top version with a 77kWh battery. It will also have 800v charging capability, something which has previously only been seen on the Porsche Taycan and Audi e-tron GT. This allows much faster charging, with a five minute burst on a 350kW public rapid enough to give 60 miles of extra range.

It’s thought that both two and four wheel drive versions will be offered, and a smaller 58kWh battery will also be available. Prices should start at around £50,000, putting the EV6 up against the new Nissan Ariya and Tesla Model Y.
